My textile Stories

Welcome to my little textile world!

Textile design is a lot more than drawing - it's about fibres, making structures of yarn, tools and machinery, dye stuff, and so much more... but also drawing patterns.

I would like to give a bit of a glimpse into my small and big textile projects and experiments of which most can be made with your own hands at home. Furthermore it's close to my heart to give some information about textiles that are everyday business to me but maybe not to most people outside of the textile industry - but after all, each of us are surrounded by a huge number of textile materials every day.

Have fun browsing and get creative!

07-2024:  Floral Balcony Cushions

It's summer time - and how better to relax than with a comfy place to sit, complete with stylish patterned cushions out in the fresh air?

05-2024:  Building a simple Lightbox

A light box is ideal for tracing sketches or transferring them into a final drawing.

Build one with me!

10-2023/05-2024: Quilting the Spooky Quilt

The most important part of making a quilt is quilting, sewing together the layers of material.

Here I documented my process and different methods that I tested during this project.

07-2023: Making of Fabric Sample Cards

How to keep track of hundreds of pattern designs? I'd like to give a look behind the scenes and into the creation of my faric sample cards !

12-2023:  Textile Christmas Ornaments

An easy sewing project for little fabric ornaments with matching festive patterns. Because glass baubles are great, but soft fabric won't break into shards . . .

10-2023:   Ice-Dyeing Fabric for my Spooky Quilt

The Quilt with patterns of my Spooky collection is still missing a matching backing fabric.

Here's a documentation about a dyeing experiment with the technique of ice-dyeing for that!

07-2023: my Spooky Pattern Collection becomes a Quilt

The first quilt I made using my own printed patterns !

A selection of colour-coordinated print designs of my 'Spooky' pattern collection come together in this sewing project.

Take a look if that sounds interesting :)
